Bangkok airport out of bounds for Thaksin demonstrators

The main airport in Bangkok has been locked down by soldiers as the Thai capital prepares for anti-government demonstrations.
The main airport in Bangkok has been locked down by soldiers as the Thai capital prepares for anti-government demonstrations.

From Thursday 11th until the 23rd of March, supporters of the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra have warned they will protest throughout the country, and especially in Bangkok.

In 2008, Thaksin supporters invaded the airport, preventing flights from taking off and landing.

The airport now has a plan for the impending demonstrations, which it has not announced, but passengers are being forced to check in three to four hours before departure.

Thaksin supporters told to stay away from Bangkok airport

Never heart such a bullshit before!

    Your information is wrong!!!

It was the PAD who blocked the airport in 2008 and not the supporters of Thaksin. Kindly verify your information before publishit it. It’s a shame !

    concur

I concur with Elrei; it was the anti Thaksin yellow shirts who invaded the airport. The purpose of this demonstration is to disrupt the ring roads. The only result here is likely to be worsened traffic conditions due to road blocks on all arterial routes into the city.

    False reporting

The truth:- In 2008, Abhisit supporters invaded the airport and cause it to close for some time causing a massive blow to the tourism of a country trying to continue as a democracy. Shortly after, MPs were locked in hotel rooms for the night and ordered to support a change of government before being escorted to Parliament to vote.

    Toxic Thaksin

Defending a criminal like Thaksin is just plain stupid.

Yellow and red shirts - what an awful choice!

It was the yellow shirts who invavded the airport not Thaksin supporters. This is poor journalism. However the rent-a-mob reds are on their way from Issan to cause havoc. On Sunday Thailand will look at itself in the mirror, I wonder what it will see.

    Warning: tourists stay away

It is getting really dangerous here, do EVERYTHING you can not to travel here. Bangkok is little safer now but it will get worse there very soon.

    Facts

As Elrei pointed out, fix your facts...Where I am in Bkk, I don’t notice a thing. Of course it is minutes away from the 12 noon deadline they imposed. .......... They are threatening to fan out and bring the city to a halt by clogging up the main roads, but so far they are just out at the gov’t office area.
